The Mothers' Boycott
We are the Mothers of young people whose lives and futures are endangered by the current administration. The robber barons who have bought and paid for this administration have transformed the US from a democracy to an oligarchy. Since our votes no longer count, we are voting with our dollars, our data, and our attention. As mothers we are the primary decisionmakers for how our families spend their money and their time. We are going to use that power to protect our kids and their futures. We demand a return to the rule of law, to constitutionally mandated civil rights and bodily autonomy for all residents of the US, and to a robust system of checks and balances and separation of church and state. We demand that the courts and legislature resist the power grab by the current administration and that the government put in place a plan to address the physical and economic needs of the people and to truly address the worsening climate emergency.Note to our fellow moms: This is a basic, imperfect series of steps to help you get started on a longterm boycott of the corporations and billionaires who are funding and enabling the fascists in the White House. Grab a few friends and start going through the steps together. It's time for us to freeze their funding.
Step 1
* Share this plan with 3 friends and agree to support each other in going through this boycott together. Make a plan to check in regularly to remind each other why our kids' futures are worth the effort to stand up, push back, and stay strong. If a friend shared this with you, please share it with 3 more friends as part of this step, to help the boycott keep growing even if you're already part of an accountability group!* If you have a Twitter account delete it. It's owned by a Nazi. Twitter alternatives include Bluesky, Mastodon, Pillowfort. You can follow creators on Patreon, Kofi, or their mailing lists.* If you're going to be shopping for a new car soon, take Tesla off your list of options. Other electric car makers include Volkswagon, BYD Seal, Hyundai, Kia* Write a letter to Tesla

You can use the Mothers' Boycott language from our front page, or your own language -- just let them know that they have Nazi stink on them and we're making sure everyone knows it and we're not going to let them forget it.
Step 2
* If you have a Facebook account, it's time to delete it. But first it's time to let your friends and family know why you're leaving. Let them know you are removing your money, data, and attention from the corporations enabling the fascists in the White House. Share this boycott with them, and ask them to join you.* Alternatives to FB include all of the Twitter alternatives mentioned in Step 1. You can also start group chats with your friends and family members, start old-school mailing lists with the FB groups you're part of, or find discord servers that cover the same topics* We know you might have a lot of memories on FB. You can save them before you delete your account. Search for "How to download Facebook data", follow the instructions, and within a day or two you'll get email letting you know how to download your info.* Let folks know why you're leaving and where else to find you, download your data, delete your account. You've got this.* Write a letter or postcard to Meta.

Let them know that until they stop enabling the fascists in the White House, you will not be allowing them access to your money, your data, or your attention.
Step 3
Step 3 is a big one. Time to stop funding Amazon.
* Begin by removing your credit card info from your Amazon account. Every time you're tempted to buy something from Amazon STOP and find an alternative. This is a rough step, we know. We've all gotten used to the convenience of getting things delivered overnight. But protecting our children's safety and future is worth some discomfort and inconvenience.* Get the word out to more people about the boycott. Write a letter to the editor of your local paper, make an announcement at the PTA meeting, make a zine and put it in a local little library, or share it in the family group chat.* Send a letter or postcard to Amazon. Let them know that you are boycotting them and that until they stop funding and enabling the fascists in the White House, you will not be allowing them access to your money, your data, or your attention.Amazon Business

Step 4
Time to degoogle!
* Change your search engine to DuckDuckGo (their website makes it easy)* If you're using Chrome for your browser, switch to DuckDuckGo or Mozilla Firefox* Start using Mapquest again, instead of Google Maps!*Check in with your Accountability group from Step 1. Are any of you needing tech support with any of these changes?* We didn't include Gmail or Google docs in this step because those changes are more involved than we're aiming for in these initial basic steps. But we strongly encourage you to use the link below to start preparing to let go of Google entirely!* Write to Google

Mountain View, CA 94043
You can use the language from the first page of this site or your own language to let them know why you're boycotting them.
Step 5
Time to let go of Instagram. It's part of the FB universe, part of the reason Zuckerberg has the power to affect national politics.* Make sure you've downloaded your Instagram data (go to your profile page, select Settings, then Security, then Data and History, then Download Data)* Find alternatives to IG -- make a group chat with the folks you most enjoy interacting with on IG and send each other photos of your days; try Pixelfed or Bluesky's Flashes* Write another letter to Meta

Let them know that you hold them responsible for the unconstitutional power grab by the current administration and that you are done using their products because of their anti-American actions.
Step 6
Time to revisit the early steps
* Come together with your Accountability group from Step 1. See if each of you can invite at least 2 more people to your group. Your experiences with the first 5 steps mean you can help them get through those steps more easily.* Complete your boycott of Amazon -- cancel Prime and any other subscriptions you have through Amazon.* Write to Amazon again, letting them know that you are boycotting their products until the Mothers' Boycott's demands are met

Step 7
Leaving Whole Foods* Amazon owns Whole Foods, but we made this its own step because if you're anything like us boycotting Whole Foods is going to be a whole project!* Alternatives to Whole Foods include Costco, Aldi, Wegmans, local health food cooperatives, farmers markets, Trader Joe's, Thrive Market* Write to Whole Foods letting them know why you're boycotting them. If you've been a loyal customer up until now, make sure to let them know!

Step 8
Next Steps!
* The long-term goal of The Mothers' Boycott is to steadily increase the pressure on the corporations and billionaires who are funding and enabling the current administration. As long as they keep increasing the danger to our kids, we're going to keep increasing the pressure on them. This is no longer business as usual and we won't let the rich and powerful pretend that it is.* Come together with your accountability buddies. What next steps do you want to take together? Bring more attention to the boycott? Add to the list of corporations you're boycotting? Bring more people in to your group? Start a free market or buy nothing group or tool library to make it easier for everyone to resist consumerism or put their money toward mutual aid?* When you feel frustrated or discouraged, turn to your accountability buddies for support, encouragement, and community.* We are powerful, and we are not alone. Mothers make most of the purchasing decisions in US households, and while these particular steps focus on financial pressure there are other groups focusing on protests, political pressure, and court cases. We can't know how long it will take, but every step we take, every action we commit to, makes our movement stronger and success closer.
